Abstract

This research is aimed to determine the differences of brain based learning and problem based learning models to improve student activities of learning geography in class XI IPS in SMA Colombo.
This study is an experimental research.. The research location is in Kolombo High School, Demangan, Sleman. The subject of the research is students of class XI IPS which is consists of XI IPS 1 amount to 23 students and class XI IPS 2 amount to 15 students. Data collection technique used include questionnaires and observation. Data analysis technique used include analysis prerequisites counting which is normality and homogeneity counting, along with hypothesis test which is paired sample t-test.
The research result showed paired sample t-test that is t-statistics produce score for 2.16 with the significance of 0.04, so it is concluded to refuse H0 because the signification level is less than alpha grade (0.05). Based on the results, it can be concluded that there are several significant differences in the use of brain based learning and problem based learning models to improve student activities of learning geography in class XI IPS in SMA Colombo. The brain based learning model is more effective compared to problem based learning model because there is a significant improvement instudent activities of learning geography applying brain based learning model.
